The Pre-School Learning Alliance

Little Acorns (Colleton) Pre-school is a member of a national organisation called The Pre-school Learning Alliance that has been formed to support and advise Pre-schools and toddler groups and their parents throughout the country.

Little Acorns has been accredited Level 3 by the PLA in April 2008 – a recognition of the hard work, standards and commitment of the Pre-School Staff and committee.

Within our area, local groups have formed a branch of this organisation.  At branch meetings we are able to exchange ideas and information and the branch committee help provide services that groups can take advantage of, such as bulk buying play materials, a toy library and courses for people interested in Pre-school learning and play.

Our County Association, formed by representatives from all of the branches, helps to co-ordinate activities and make sure that the needs of under five’s groups are remembered in the plans of Local Authorities.

The Pre-school Learning Association Regional Council is a link with, and helps to formulate the policies, of the National Executive Council of Pre-school Learning Alliance and in this way the opinions and needs of our Pre-school can be made known to the appropriate Government Department and our interest represented.

The Pre-school Learning Alliance exists to help young parents to understand and provide for the needs of their young children.  It aims to promote community situations in which parents can, with growing enjoyment and confidence, make the best uses of their knowledge and resources in the development of their children and themselves – the working aim of the Pre-school Learning Alliance.
