The Pre-school is managed by Little Acorns committee made up of Pre-school parents.  Members are elected annually at the AGM in October to which all parents are invited.

 

Fundraising for Pre-school, however, is also an objective of the committee, which meets approximately once per half term, to discuss Pre-school issues and Fundraising ideas and put them into practice.  The committee welcomes all new parents who would like to volunteer their services towards the managing of and fundraising for the Pre-school.

 

HELPERS ROTA

Children thrive best when parents are actively involved in their education, therefore we encourage parents to take an active part in the running of the Pre-school by requesting their help at one morning session every half term.

 

The Parent Rota Form is placed on the notice board in advance, and parents are expected to sign up for a session at their convenience.

 

A leaflet will be given to new helpers offering advice as to how they can be of assistance during the session.  It is not unusual for your child to stay beside you for the greater part of the session when you are helping.

 

By helping at Pre-school the parent, the Pre-school and the children all benefit in different ways.  The children benefit by seeing the interest the parent has in his group and how his parent is valued by the group.  He feels special on that day and learns to share his parent or Carer with other children – shared experiences become talking points.

 

The parent benefits by seeing their child amongst other similarly aged children and is reassured about what happens at Pre-school.  They feel they are contributing and working as a member of the team.  They feel able to offer new ideas for craft or play and have a chance to make new friends.  The group benefits from having an extra pair of hands which provides more time for them to talk and listen to the children.  It is beneficial to everyone to get to know the parent and to share experiences and ideas.
