On Friday we have a parent who gladly gives up her time to come in and teach the children some French words and songs.
Children have been learning how to say their name and greet one another. This week our story was about a dinosaur – Le Dinosaur.
The children love the visit from some friendly puppets that capture their imagination.
This week in the quiet room we have been learning the song Frere Jacques and you can find the words here:) http://www.jeannedelalune.co.uk/Frerejacques.html
The week commencing the 14th November the children will be baking biscuits and cakes in support of the BBC Appeal – Children in Need.
If you would like to make a donation, there will be a collecting box at pick-up time, along with lovely home made bakes.
7th – 11th November
This week the children will be making salt dough decorations, which will be displayed in St Mary’s Church, Twyford.
The children have also been busy doing artwork for the Christmas tea towel and shopping bag, which will be on sale in December.

We are pleased to announce our extension is finished and the pathway from Verey Close will be back to normal soon.
We have also made a change to our afternoon session and these will now look like the morning sessions when you bring your child to pre-school. So children arriving at 12.15p.m will no longer have to join the lunch club children, but will go to their key groups for the register and afternoon activities. We have been able to make these improvements , due to the practitioners being able to take their lunch earlier in the new extension, and our new lunch staff – Barbara and Sarah joining the team.
On Wednesday 14th September we shall be having a visit from Farms2Ewe. All the children at pre-school will be going onto the school field to see the animals during the morning and afternoon sessions. If your child does not normally attend on a Wednesday, they can join us on the field or see the animals by attending the Starlings Children Centre session.

Little Acorns Dad’s Challenge took place last Sunday, and I am pleased to say that 4 Dad’s successfully completed the 18 mile walk along the River Thames path from Marlow to Reading.
Many thanks to all those that supported this event. Over £700 has been raised and proceeds will help to decorate and equip the new extension being built this Summer.
Congratulations to Neetan Kathuria, Stuart Donald, Simon Karn and Lee Evans, pictured here with Ann Brigden (Little Acorns Trustee) after receiving their ‘olympic’ medals.
All Dad’s are recovering well with a little help from some compeed!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
